The Dark Knight

I had the chance to see the new Batman movie tonight.  Now that is something else.  I thought Batman Begins was good but it’s a high school play compared to this.

A lot of people talk about Heath Ledger’s performance.  To be honest, it is really quite amazing.  He truly is a psychopath in every sense of the word.  Whenever he’s on screen you wince and squirm about his next move, his next line, his next thought.  We’ve seen criminals in the past, there was always rhyme and reason to them existing.  Not so with the Joker.  He is pure evil incarnate.  He has no goals but to see the world burn.

The movie has a great pace too.  Clocks in near 2.5hours with almost non-stop action throughout.  You only have a few moments to catch your breath and make sense of it all before the next act begins.  Seeing it in IMAX is the only option.  There’s just too much action on screen to shrink the perspective down.

Christian Bale is Batman.  There is no doubt.  Michael Cain is great as Alfred.  Maggie Gyllenhal is a good Rachel (my biggest gripe from the first film was Katie).  Aron Eckhart does a noble job as Two Face but it seems lacking in time when compared to the Joker, like he could have had more to do.

I am certainly returning to see it again.  Hopefully this week!

Alright!

Seems the site hack stuff is over with.  Added a new module for added security in the future.  Took a frikin MONTH to get all of it cleaned out and in the process I purged about 75% of the size of the site.

Oh well, all done now.

Tournoi Major en FDS!!  Party!

PS.  1 stroke off bogey golf yesterday.

Holy Lack of Updates Batman!

I’m sure you’ve noticed it’s all quiet on the open front.  Well, my index pages were loading some crap code and google won’t let me access this site with Firefox.  IE works fine though, how messed up is that!!

Spent a week at the cottage, holy cow is that ever something I love doing.  New goal! I have the pics on my PC, just need to upload them.

Last weekend was Renfrew (10 years now).  That was a blast.  Took an hour on Friday to get the wet wood burning but Saturday was gorgeous.  I have this nice S tan on my back thanks to a friend’s super sunblocking application skills.  A few pics from that will be up soon too.

Now, back to your daily troubles!

Oh, 66 in AoC and I don’t get to play all that much!

Diablo 3 Announced!

I can’t say I’m really surprised that this was the announcement we waited for.

There are going to be some pretty farking amazing things coming out from this game!  I can’t even come close to counting the amount of hours, heck, weeks I put into the first 2 games.  Diablo 1 (along with Warcraft 2) were my first real experiences with multiplayer computer games.

Given Blizzard’s track record with games (batting over 1.00), I can only expect the best.

Videos can take a while, millions are DLing ’em

George Carlin – Dead at 71

One of the funniest men I have ever seen or heard and the reason comedy is so close to my heart. Only Lewis Black that’s left…

What is Wrong With People?

I’m sure this isn’t news to everyone but I found this the other day.  Remember when you were a kid and were trying to eat everything?  Those small plastic blocks sure did look appetizing!  Now some wacko at Kellogg’s decided to OK this product.  How is a child supposed to know the difference between these and the plastic block!?

Bring on the lawsuits!

Finance Finance Finance

This is probably one of the most difficult conversations to have in a couple.  Someone always makes less than the other.  Initially the feeling is we should pay a equal percentage of income but that really complicates things in the long run.  For example, if I put 500 and you put in 750 a month, it might be the same percentage on the shot but after 5 years I have 30,000 and you have 45,000 which is a huge difference.  If things go sour, how do you split things up?  Both people use things equaly, why should they pay differing amounts?  If you happen across some extra money, do you put in more that time or not?

Because of the complications in percentages, I’ve always been a fan of set numbers.  It’s MILES easier to figue out in the long run and you can easily count the numbers in your head.  Plus, if things don’t go smooth, the end result is a lot easier for both parties to come to terms with.

I’m glad I have a singificant other who has a financial mind and can see both sides of this question.  It’s a lot easier to move forward that way and no one feels targetted.  One more step complete!
